Prayers for Griemsman and Family
The WPRA sends prayers to the entire Jana Griemsman family on the untimely loss of her great mare Chase It With Brandy. Brandy suffered a catastrophic injury during the semifinals of the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo on Sunday. There are no words to soothe the hurt of losing such an incredible equine partner.
Griemsman’s equine partner “Brandy” has been referred to as a “Horse of a Lifetime”. The eight year old sorrel mare had a break out year in 2016 with a season end run for a chance at the NFR, but finishing up just outside the top 15 in eighteenth place in the WPRA standings.
Chase It With Brandy was a member of the family and came into the world that way. Brandy was by TM Shakem Drift an eighteen year old stud owned by Terry Moody. Moody was married to Jana’s sister Jill (NFR Qualifier)Moody and was out of a Corona Special mare. A breeding that was paired by Jill Moody. Corona Special was purchased from Lyman Chase and has not relation to the Corona Cartel line.
The filly was born on the sister’s Jill and Jana’s parents home place. When the filly turned two, Jill sent her to Jana and Paul. Paul started the mare and she was an easy start that never bucked.
Griemsman and Brandy were competing at the Ram National Circuit Finals and were poised to be one of the top money earners for the weekend. The duo were just getting acclimated in the first go with a tenth place finish posting a time of 15.55 seconds. They came back to take the win in the second round with a blistering 15.09 second run. The run would be the fastest time clocked for the weekend of all the qualifiers. The round win and their time placed them first in the average advancing to the semi finals with a 30.64 in the top spot. The round win and the average win both paid $6,254 each. Griemsman led the top eight into the semifinals with $12,508 in winnings. The accident took place during their semi-finals run.
Friends and family are asking for prayers and privacy during this difficult time.
